Plymouth Food Aid Network (PFAN) recently unveiled their new website, jam-packed with easy to use resources, a handy interactive map and lots more. It is designed to provide information to both the general public and to PFAN member organisations in Plymouth and the surrounding areas.
The Plymouth Food Aid Network (PFAN) is a collaboration of food support providers, local growers, distributers, retailers and organisations all seeking to end food insecurity across the City. The Network began in 2018 and has provided a united approach in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic. All parties involved with PFAN actively seek to offer fair access to healthy and appropriate food support across Plymouth communities.
Members of the Plymouth Food Aid Network seek to bring an end to food insecurity across the city, however still recognise that there remains a need for emergency food aid in the short term. The network actively works to offer the least stigmatising forms of emergency food aid provision possible and to work collectively to end the need for reliance on these short-term services.
PFAN is supported by us here at Food Plymouth, the City’s recognised local food partnership and a central connecting hub for all food related matters across Plymouth. Food Plymouth’s interests and activities span the domains of social, economic and environmental sustainability. We are an active contributor to the Sustainable Food Places (SFP) Network in the UK and Ireland, and are presently working towards Silver status. The National Lottery Community Funding for the PFAN website was achieved through a partnership between Food Plymouth and Plymouth City Council.
If you are part of a charity, community group, or organisation providing food aid across Plymouth, you’re very welcome to get in touch with the PFAN team. PFAN also welcomes food growers, retailers, suppliers or distributers who would like to donate food to support active groups and projects within this network. You can learn more about the network and find contact details via their dedicated website and Facebook page.
