Promoting a vibrant, prosperous and diverse sustainable food economy
Food culture transformation requires action from local people as well as the players in the various systems that support it. Food system change must also be good for local economies, businesses and jobs. Plymouth is engaged in some pioneering work that promotes a stronger and more resilient food economy.
The collaborative work of Food Plymouth aims to develop strategies, policies and services that actively promote and support the development and long term success of healthy and sustainable food businesses. We believe in the importance of local food supply chains and collaborative working to develop a more diverse and sustainable food economy.
We want to support new sustainable food entrepreneurs and food businesses and retailers, by providing them with support, training opportunities and engagement with our partner organisations. Food Plymouth’s role in this context is to support better connection between consumers and retailers.
