Transition Plymouth was founded ten years ago, just a few months ahead of Food Plymouth. Over the ensuing years, the two groups have enjoyed a close and fruitful relationship, Transition Plymouth being one of our most constant and faithful partners. During that time, Transition Plymouth has done some great work in the food and drink arena, contributing significantly to the Food Plymouth Partnership and Network’s efforts to reduce the Eco-Footprint of the Food System. Transition Plymouth’s notable recent contributions in this arena include successfully encouraging cafes and other venues to provide tap water refills for water bottles (thereby reducing the use of plastics) and their wholehearted support for the Extinction Rebellion movement. Food Plymouth core team members were therefore delighted to support Transition Plymouth’s 10th anniversary party. This was held in the delightful setting of the Park Lodge Cafe in Freedom Fields Park. We enjoyed superb fayre from the Real Junk Food project and an inspirational address from Ben Parkin of Lush around the environmental, social and economic benefits of ethical, sustainable supply chains in the production and marketing of consumer products. So, happy anniversary Transition Plymouth. We look forward to working with you in your second decade of campaigns and actions in pursuit of fairness, justice and resilience locally and globally.
