Thrive Plymouth Year 5 – ‘People Connecting through Food’.
The overall focus for Year 5 is supporting Plymouth to achieve the
Sustainable Food Cities (SFC) Silver Award . The city currently has Bronze status and if successful would be only
one of four local authority areas in the country to achieve Silver. Food Plymouth, with support from across the City Council and the cross-sector Thrive Plymouth Planning Group, has developed an action plan and activities based around these
six key themes. We have also developed an acronym and ‘logo’ to reflect these themes:
CHAMPS.Our forthcoming event
Food Safety Plus workshop for Bed & Breakfast establishments, Guest Houses and Hotels is on track to present a safe food message. To this end, we have invited the Mayflower 400 team, The Box, Plymouth Plan for Plastics, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service and Public Health England to partner us for this event for the benefit of the cities hospitality providers.
We also recognise that Plymouth’s hospitality trade can benefit from your products and services and contribute to your agendas and outcomes. If this is true for you, please come along on May 9th and book a FREE stand to promote what you do.
All of our delegates will be invited to join and participate in making Plymouth a ‘Silver’ Sustainable Food City, and pledge to contributing in some way to make real sustainable change to healthy, local, low environmental impact food offers or choice for all.
Our event booking link is here – please go to ‘Food Safety Plus 2019 – Event Supporting’ line of the ‘Upcoming courses and events’ section and click on the ‘Book’ button.
Dave Lea, Training and Enforcement officer, Plymouth City Council says:
“On behalf of the Thrive Plymouth Planning Group and the Environmental Health team I look forward to seeing on Thursday.”
