Food Plymouth’s Tess Wilmot and Ian Smith were happy to be among the guests at the M & S Community Business Challenge Plymouth celebration event at Devonport Guildhall on May 30th. The challenge and the associated awards of businesses development support were sponsored by Marks & Spencer and Power to Change. Right: Explaining Billy Ruffian’s – Jack Witek |
Five tremendous local community businesses featured and all benefited from awards of cash and / or in-kind support from M & S and Power to Change. It was particularly wonderful to see Food Plymouth’s friends and partners at Nudge Community Builders receiving an award for their work, which includes support for food micro-businesses at The Clipper. Likewise Billy Ruffian’s, Plymouth’s new community-owned craft brewery, received an award in recognition of its rapidly emerging social, environmental and economic potential. The re-purposing of surplus bread products in Billy Ruffian’s brewing processes is certainly catching everyone’s attention. Look out for more on Nudge Community Builders / The Clipper and Billy Ruffian’s in future editions of this newsletter and Food Plymouth’s social media channels.
