Food Plymouth’s Fairfax Luxmoore and Ian Smith joined farmers and food business people from across the West Country listening to and engaging with NFU President Minette Batters during her recent visit to Honiton. Minette spoke powerfully on the risks, changes and opportunities facing British farming. Minette also echoed the views of those of us who are saying that food production needs to be firmly on the face of the government’s new agriculture bill, adding that a long-term approach is necessary to prevent food from becoming a political football. Watch out for more on these topics and Food Plymouth’s engagement with them in future editions of this e-bulletin. |
