Shareen Smith, one of the Growing Community Abundance team of growers, supported both events helping with the activities and the Local Food Bring and Buy table.
At Freedom Fields community growers Pat and Bernard Todkill showed us around and shared their story of creating the amazing community garden and wildflower areas through the hard work local residents. Food Plymouth’s Jacques Marchall (who was busy at Flavour Fest) has been very involved in designing and creating of the large wildflower area.At Poole Farm it was great to see the new community garden around the farmhouse which is being led by volunteer Gemma Gould. I was delighted to see that Shed on Wheels is now a key focal point in this space. Look out for us tomorrow, Saturday 15th June at Plymouth Hope Festival and in Ernesettle on Saturday 22nd June where you can join the Pasty and Cider Walk and find us at the allotment stop, giving tips on growing your own food! |
