After hearing about the new Too Good To Go App, I thought I’d give it a try myself. The concept is brilliant.
Restaurants can sign up to the app to sell unsold food off rather than throwing it in the bin. Customers register on the app too and can buy this surplus food at a reduced cost. Everyone’s a winner!
So far only 3 businesses in Plymouth have registered but I’m sure that it will really take off when word spreads. I decided to try Yo! Sushi. You log in to the app and it tells you how many “surplus meals” they have available. I purchased one meal and it said I could collect my food after 3pm. Off I went to Drake’s Circus, where I was met by a friendly chap who asked me what I liked. He then popped off for a few minutes to return with a bag containing 4 tasty dishes. There was easily enough food to feed my and my 11 year old. Absolutely delicious!
I highly recommend trying it for yourself – and please suggest it to your local restaurants too. The more that sign up means less food waste. It also means that you get to treat yourself to restaurant quality takeaways for a fraction of the price….. what’s not to love about it? (by Tami Skelton)
