Support call for an emergency “land army” package
The Landworkers’ Alliance, who represent more than 1,000 small, medium, community, and family farmers in the UK, are calling for an investment of £9.3 million to ensure a rapid transition to a shock resistant localised food system. They have written a letter to Chancellor Rt Hon Rishi Sunak and Rt Hon Victoria Prentis calling for a package of support to pay a “land army” of workers to increase domestic food production to respond to the Covid-19 crisis. If you would like to show your support for this letter, you can sign their petition here.
