Plymouth Seafood Festival – Saturday 15th September 2018
What a beautiful weekend for the annual Seafood Festival in Plymouth! My Saturday afternoon was spent soaking up the sun, sea and delicious aromas around the Barbican. Revelling in the wonderful atmosphere and surrounded by an abundance of locally sourced and sustainably caught, high quality seafood on offer. Beautiful looking lobster, enormous tempura prawns, colourful paella and so much more. Deciding what to taste was hard!
The festival, now in its seventh year, is still, if not more popular than ever. As well as all the delicious foods on offer there are also activities for children including hands-on cooking sessions with CATERed and mouthwatering cooking demonstrations. One of which was held by Food Plymouth champion and Michelin star chef, Jacques Marchal.
Having qualified as the inaugural Blue City from Fish2fork in 2015 for its commitment to sourcing sustainable fish. the Plymouth Seafood Festival celebrates this and the restaurants based at Sutton Harbour and Plymouth’s Barbican who achieved blue fish ratings. So, even though the festival is only on for two days, the delicious, local fish is available all year round from excellent suppliers such as Sole of Discretion, The Market Plaice or the handful of traders at Plymouth Fisheries.
