Food is Fun CIC have been working in partnership with Pro-Active Coaching to deliver an exciting new programme for schools called Hunger for Sports, thanks to funding from Muscle Food UK. Children across Plymouth are getting their hands messy creating tasty dishes, learning essential cooking skills and having great fun playing indoor and outdoor sports at after school clubs.
The team at Pro-Active have been playing a huge variety of sports designed to attract both those who love sport and those who prefer to steer away from physical activity.
Activities have been designed to include everyone regardless of their ability. It’s been fantastic to see the difference in the self-confidence of the children over the weeks. We focus on how to fuel the body, looking at nutrition and how to have a healthy balance diet. Parents are invited to join in with the cooking and the sports which encourages cooking at home and doing physical activities as a family. We’ve also had students who are studying nutrition at Plymouth University join us for some of the sessions and they have been delivering Sugar Smart lessons to the children and their parents.
